We are an award-winning community robotics team composed of eleven high school students from the Bay Area. September 2023 will mark our 10th year participating in FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), an annual competition where students from around the world build robots to complete game challenges. 2022/2023 Season

The Power Play season marks our ninth year competing in the First Tech Challenge. The main goal of the game is to score as many cones as you can onto junctions of different heights in order to earn points.

The Freight Frenzy Season is our eight year competing in FTC. Freight Frenzy is focused on scoring freight on shipping cups and storing units.

The Ultimate Goal Season is our seventh year competing in FTC. Ultimate Goal is a shooter game where teams score rings into various targets.

This year, we are participating in the Fair Play for FTC Initiative. We are committed to maintaining a fun and welcoming environment for all teams throughout the Ultimate Goal season.

2019/2020 Season

The 2019/2020 season is our 6th year participating in FTC. Skystone is focused on building blocks as tall as possible.

2018/2019 Season

The 2018/2019 Season is out 5th year participating in FTC. Rover Ruckus, the game of this season, is centered around picking up minerals from a crater and depositing them into a lander.

During the 2018 off-season, we once again presented at libraries and continued to recruit new members. We also built a new drive train for testing purposes.

2017/2018 Season

The 2017/2018 season is our fourth year in FTC. The game of this season, Relic Recovery, is centered around picking up foam blocks and placing them in a grid, and placing a “relic” in a desired zone to score points.

2017 Off-Season

During the 2017 off-season, we presented at libraries, recruited and trained new members, built a cascade lift and drive train, and acquired sponsorships.

2016/2017 Season

The 2016/2017 season was our third year in FTC. The game of this season, Velocity Vortex, was mainly to score whiffle balls into a center vortex and cap these vortexes later in the end with yoga balls.

The 2015/2016 season was our second year in FTC. The game of the season, FIRST RES-Q, was centered around climbing, and scoring cubes/balls.

The 2014/2015 season was our team’s rookie year. The game of the season, Cascade Effect, was centered around scoring balls in rolling goals and having goals pushed around the field.

Outreach

Throughout the year, we work on contributing to our community in order to spread the word about FIRST and robotics. This includes outreach online, at competitions, and at local libraries and schools.
